Got a problem with my hp g7000 series laptop?

it keeps freezing or slowing down then crashing, ive checked my hard drive for irregularities and its fine ram is always at 45 % and i cant work out why ive ran the diagnostics in the bios so i know it definately not the hard drive, any suggestions? i was thinkin maybe i needed to upgrade my ram?
